| From Aruba to Zynk, Fat Ox to Fitzies, Havana to Banana Joe's, it would be the wisdom of a fool to single out any of the 30-or-so high-spirited Town Centre pubs and clubs, starting from Whitley Road, lining both sides of South Parade's party strip and so on along the Prom. Or, rather than be whisked off among the scantily-clad down the tempting fleshpots of South Parade, if it's an atmosphere less vibrant you're after where you can gentle over a pint with a pickled egg and a packet of tooth-loosening pork scratchings, there's plenty of that too. |

As a measure towards keeping the more excitable members of their clientele under strict but benevolent control, almost every bar, pub and club listed is a member of the Whitley Bay Pubwatch Scheme. There is a strong partnership in the resort between the local council, bar owners, hoteliers and Northumbria Police, and visitors are urged to enjoy themselves but be good! For a gentle tap on the kidneys, i.e. further advice on how to maintain your dignity when on the hoy, visit the Pubwatch website at www.nationalpubwatch.org.uk |
